FIRST AID SERVICES

Mountainview Safety Services first aid attendants are qualified as OFA 3 and/or Advanced Level 3, equipped to work in all provinces and territories in Canada. Attendants are trained to take care of situations of minor issues to major life threatening trauma including:

  • Airway management
  • Breathing management
  • Circulation management
  • CPR
  • AED
  • Splinting techniques
  • Full spinal immobilization in any field situation
  • Etc.

Attendants are trained in the use of road radios, vehicle inspections, inventory inspections, all paperwork required in the field and to perform orientations for clients upon request.

First aid attendants come with all equipment required to comply with or exceed all provincial standards set by Work Safe. Mountainview Safety Services is FULLY CAPABLE of providing for all of your First Aid, Paramedics and Training/Testing needs.

We offer WCB and Red Cross First Aid courses that are valid in Alberta and British Columbia. Companies and employees working back and forth across the Alberta/BC border can be assured that your First Aid Certificates are valid for either province.

OUR CURRENT COURSES

GAS DETECTION AND CONTROL OF FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES – $185.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This course is designed for personnel working with or near flammable substances in all industries. It includes in introduction to flammable substances, principles of flammable gas/vapor detection, care and preparation of gas detecting devices, interpreting readings and control methods.

FALL PROTECTION – $185.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This one day program allows workers to understand the use of fall protection as it is related to the work you perform at heights. This course will help you decide which options best meet your needs and give you the knowledge to work safely at heights. Fall calculations, proper harness fitting and fall protection plans are part of the practical exercises in this program. Students are encouraged to bring their personal harness, but it is not mandatory.

CONFINED SPACE ENTRY AND RESCUE – $185.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This one day program is designed for those who may work in or around potential confined spaces. This course focuses on legislation and potential hazards associated with such spaces as well as potential risks during a rescue.

HAZARD ASSESSMENT AND CONTROL – $165.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This half day program focuses on identifying potential hazards and understanding how to assess, and control their effects. This program and its contents are a key aspect for any hazard recognition and control program in the workplace.

WHMIS – $80.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This 4-hour program gives workers the knowledge and understanding about responsibilities around worksite chemical handling. Topics include, labeling, documentation and safe handling.

TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS (TDG) – $80.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This 4-hour program focuses on classes and divisions of dangerous goods, placarding, classes, labeling, shipping, responsibilities and reporting dangerous occurrences.

GROUND DISTURBANCE – $185.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) Taught in accordance with IRP-17 this program was designed to meet the regulatory requirements for ground disturbance. Topics include hazard recognition, what a ground disturbance is, permitting and legislative information.

WILDERNESS AWARENESS – $150.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This program provides workers with a basic knowledge to work safely in remote areas and wilderness habitats, as well as safely interacting with wildlife. Topics include regulations for wildlife protection, large ungulates, plants, insects, spiders, reptiles, bears and other carnivorous animals.

ATV OR UTV SAFETY – $250.00 PLUS GST
(Green Seal) This full day course offers 2 hours of classroom theory and 4 – 6 hours of practical demonstration. Students are taught basic safe operation as well as proper winching techniques, driving strategies, proper attire and pre-trip inspections. Students are required to provide their own machine in proper working condition as well as the proper attire for the practical (Helmet, pants, boots, gloves and eye protection). Any students under the effects of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to participate.

H2S ALIVE – $185.00 PLUS GST
(Enform) This program teaches the hazards and properties of H2S, hazard assessments, proper donning of SCBA as well as how to develop and implement the 7-step initial response strategy.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID LEVEL A (CPR & AED) – $145.00 PLUS GST
This one day course offers students the basic skills required to respond to an incident or injury until the arrival of medical aid. Choking and CPR with defibrillation for adults is included.

STANDARD FIRST AID LEVEL A (CPR & AED) – $195.00 PLUS GST
This 16-hour course covers the skills offered in the emergency course as well as the additional topics of caring for sudden illness, fracture management and head and spinal injuries.

STANDARD FIRST AID LEVEL C (CPR & AED) – $195.00 PLUS GST
Includes all the topics coffered in the level A course with the additional topics of choking and CPR for infants and children. A one day re-certification is available for standard first aid with proof of current certification.

CPR-A-C, HCP– $125.00 PLUS GST
This course covers proper choking management, CPR and AED use for infants, children and adults as well as 2-rescuer approach. Follows the 2012 guidelines.

EMR – $1,250.00 (GST EXEMPT)
This 2-week program is designed for preparing you to enter the world of pre-hospital care. Skill intensive practice and real life scenario situations to develop your proficiency with equipment and protocols revolving around B.C. paramedics and meeting the NOCP for an EMR as published by the Paramedic Association of Canada. This program covers the content of advanced patient care. Upon completion, successful candidates are issued their EMR certification and will be eligible to attend the EMA licensing evaluations to become a licensed EMA in the province of B.C. This program is homework intensive. It is recommended to pick up your books at least 2 weeks prior to start date. Recommended reading material – Emergency Medical Responder: A Skills Approach.

LEVEL 1 WORKPLACE FIRST AID – $165.00 PLUS GST
This one day course offers students the basic skills required to respond to an incident or injury until the arrival of medical aid. Choking and CPR with defibrillation for adults is included as well as how filling out first aid records in accordance with WCB.

TRANSPORTATION ENDORSEMENT – $175.00 PLUS GST
Teaching students how to package a patient for transport as well oxygen therapy and splinting techniques in accordance with WCB. Students must have a valid level 1 ticket for this program and the TE certification will expire on same date as their Level 1.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND S-100 TRAINING AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.

  • Classes have a minimum of 5 students or an Instructor fee of $250 is applied.
  • Maximum of 18 students per class. EMR has a maximum of 12 students.
  • A fee of $1.50 per km is charged for travel if class is required outside of our facility.

Mountainview Safety has a paramedic division which includes EMR, PCP-IV and BC & AB Paramedics. Paramedics offer a higher level of care with each phase of training and provide more experience and confidence in dealing with trauma calls.
EMR paramedics provide:

PCP-IV paramedics provide EMR services plus:

  • Many other protocols and equipment

Mountainview Safety Services is a one-stop shop for your occupational testing services across the Peace Country Region. We are a registered collection site for CannAmm Occupational Testing, E-screen, DriverCheck, and Canada Research Labs. MSS delivers industry specific testing services including but not limited to pre-access and post accident/incident testing. We offer testing at our downtown Dawson Creek office (801-102 Ave) or “on-site” at your location of business.
